Every Wednesday

Join the The Conservation Volunteers every Wednesday morning at their Queen Elizabeth Hospital community grow space for a weekly nature walk around the site! Discover the large diversity of wildlife, including a variety of different birds, butterflies, moths and other insects. Then spend a couple of hours gardening, growing and tending to fruits and vegetables in the community grow space!

Queen Elizabeth Community Food Growing Group

Every Wednesday

Join the The Conservation Volunteers every Wednesday at their Queen Elizabeth community garden, where they grow their own food and are currently also developing a haven for local wildlife! The garden and surrounding area is also home to a variety of different wildlife species including Great Spotted Woodpeckers, butterflies and day flying moths, dragonflies, Kingfisher, Hedgehogs, different fungi and a huge variety of birds! No experience is required and all tools and training are provided!

Wild Bunch is ecobirmingham’s popular forest school programme. Sessions will be filled with fun nature crafts using tools safely, active games and explorations learning about the nature around us, as well as healthy and warm vegetarian snacks cooked together on the campfire!

Waste Age: What can design do? is a group exhibition focused on a new generation of designers who are rethinking our relationship to everyday things. From fashion to food, electronics to construction, even packaging – finding the lost value in our trash and imagining a future of clean materials and a circular economy could point the way out of the Waste Age.

Seasonal Living Workshop: The Imbolc Edition

Saturday 1st February

A year long exploration of nature, the seasons, Earth based wisdom and seasonal living! Imbolc is an ancient Celtic festival that marks the midway point between the winter solstice and the spring equinox. Traditionally, it symbolizes the first stirrings of spring and the gradual return of light after the darkness of winter. You’ll learn about the wheel of the year and Sabbat itself. There will also be Slow flow and Yin Yoga, Mindful Meditation, Journaling / scrapbooking, and the chance to make your own Brigid Cross.

Waste Age: Panel Discussion

A panel discussion as part of the Waste Age exhibition, featuring designers and artists from the show: Blast Studio and Celia Pym, along with Birmingham’s local talent Rhys Ellis, whose work is showcased in the Rubbish Redesigned exhibition in the Community Gallery. Chaired by Waste Age curator Justin McGuirk, this event explores how art and design can reshape our relationship with waste, offering fresh perspectives and solutions for a sustainable future.

Mapping Relief

Friday 17th February

Join artist and educator Laura Onions for a reflective workshop series delving into Dudley’s past and present climate activism. Begin with a guided walk, tracing gestures, sounds and stories of conservation and recovery to create an alternative map of how we care for green spaces—and how this shapes Dudley’s future. Translate your experiences into art through relief printmaking, crafting unique printing blocks that serve as an interactive archive of these shared narratives. The resulting carvings and stories will feature in exhibitions at Dudley’s Urban Rooms and be shared online and in print, celebrating the voices and histories of Dudley’s environmental care.
