Holloway Hall Community Garden
Every Monday
The Community Gardening group at Ley Hill meet every week to learn how to grow food, techniques for looking after fruit trees & bushes, and other skills such as woodwork. They also grow a mix of flowers and have grand plans to put up lots of bird boxes around the site! All of the food grown can be taken by the group to use at home.
Milebrook Hall Community Garden
Every Thursday
Pop along to Milebrrok Hall and spend a couple of hours chatting and growing fresh vegetables and fruit. Listen to the birdsong as you tend to the raised beds and brush up on our horticultual skills. Each month, you will use the seasonal vegetables to make budget friendly soups in the hall.
Rowheath Community Garden
Every Friday
You will start the day at 10am with a relaxed birdwatching walk around Rowheath Park. Then have a go at sowing, growing, and harvesting your own food. Not only will you learn about the joys of growing your own food but you will also make new friends, learn new skills, and the outdoor life will lift your spirits.

Bird Watching for Beginners @RSPB Sandwell Valley

Join RSPB volunteers on an easy monthly walk around the reserve, whether you are new to birdwatching or just want to discover more about wildlife at the reserve, the team will give you tips on getting started, point out the different birds, how to identify them and how the seasons bring different changes to the valley.

Discover the colourful world of butterflies that glide quietly in the sun around the RSPB Sandwell Valley reserve – expert volunteers will guide you through the basics of identification and how to survey these wonderful creatures.
Wild Gin Infusions Afternoon

You will go for a walk around the Stirchley area looking for our essential wild ingredients for the perfect wild gin infusion (seasonal fruits, seeds and herbs). You’ll then make up your own gin infusion (called compounding gin) in our 500ml gin bottles to take home with you.
Nature Crafts for Adults – Botanical Gel Plate Printing

A relaxed nature inspired arts and crafts session, in beautiful woodland surroundings (Parkridge Nature Reserve in Solihull), with bottomless tea and coffee! No experience needed as all crafts are aimed at beginners, and all resources supplied.

Extinction Rebellion and Friends of the Earth jointly present Climate Café, a space to learn about environmental issues and solutions to them. BIFoR Annual Meeting 2025: Forest Trace
Tuesday 24th June
Forests exchange trace gases and preserve traces of social, cultural and past ecological imprints upon their current makeup. Forests exchange water and carbon dioxide with the atmosphere and their immediate surroundings, but they also exchange other powerful greenhouse gases that occur in far smaller, trace quantities. These trace gases can have a profound influence on atmospheric chemistry and on climate, and ‘traces’ of these effects can be recorded in the past and modelled into the future. The BIFoR Annual Meeting: Forest Trace, will cover the latest understanding of these processes demonstrating the even more powerful role forests have to play for our planet.
