Every Monday
The Community Gardening group at Ley Hill meet every week to learn how to grow food, techniques for looking after fruit trees & bushes, and other skills such as woodwork. They also grow a mix of flowers and have grand plans to put up lots of bird boxes around the site! All of the food grown can be taken by the group to use at home.
Floral Crown Creative Workshop
Every Monday in April
Free demonstration, foraging, design workshops. 100% biodegradable and completely eco-friendly workshop and creations.
West Heath Community Centre Garden

Milebrook Hall Community Garden
Every Thursday
Pop along to Milebrrok Hall and spend a couple of hours chatting and growing fresh vegetables and fruit. Listen to the birdsong as you tend to the raised beds and brush up on our horticultual skills. Each month, you will use the seasonal vegetables to make budget friendly soups in the hall.
Rowheath Community Garden
Every Friday
You will start the day at 10am with a relaxed birdwatching walk around Rowheath Park. Then have a go at sowing, growing, and harvesting your own food. Not only will you learn about the joys of growing your own food but you will also make new friends, learn new skills, and the outdoor life will lift your spirits.
Bird Watching for Beginners @RSPB Sandwell Valley

Join RSPB volunteers on an easy monthly walk around the reserve, whether you are new to birdwatching or just want to discover more about wildlife at the reserve, the team will give you tips on getting started, point out the different birds, how to identify them and how the seasons bring different changes to the valley.

This film screening is being hosted by Wild Earth Movement. Hannah from Wild Earth Movement said: “this film is a great example of environmental devasation all around the world which shows how beautiful nature is and why we must fight to protect our planet.”
Jewellery Quarter Litter Pick- Birmingham cemeteries

Dawn Chorus Walk – Ley Hill Park
Sunday 13th April
Watch the sun rise over Ley Hill Park as bird song rings in your ears – identify the various songsters along the way. Our resident birds will be joined by migratory birds from Africa to add their voices to the cacophany. You will take a circular route of the park and head back to Holloway Hall for a nice brew and pastries, just as the mist starts rolling over the hill.

Nature Crafts for Adults – Making and using charcoal
Monday 14th April
A relaxed nature inspired arts and crafts session, in beautiful woodland surroundings (Parkridge Nature Reserve in Solihull), with bottomless tea and coffee! No experience needed as all crafts are aimed at beginners, and all resources supplied.
MAKE IT MEND IT
Tuesday 15th April
Make It Mend It is a monthly drop-in craft and mending café for anyone wanting to learn how to fix, mend, upcycle or repair items and objects. Free materials. Free refreshments. Drop in between 6 pm and 8 pm.
What’s growing in our wildlife garden? @ RSPB Sandwell Valley
Thursday 17th April
Spend an hour on a very gentle wander around a wonderful wildlife garden with RSPB gardening volunteers. They will help you ID what is growing, what conditions different wild flowers like and what insects they attract.
Climate Café

Extinction Rebellion and Friends of the Earth jointly present Climate Café, a space to learn about environmental issues and solutions to them. Join a different expert every month for tea, coffee, cake, and the opportunity to hear what they have to say for 30 minutes, followed by a chance to stay to chat and share ideas if you would like. Nocturnal Wildlife
Friday 25th April
The RSPB team will introduce you to the secret world of the Sandwell Valley reserve wildlife at night. You will go for a walk around the reserve to see what creatures are flying after dark and visit the hide to watch roosting birds and bats skimming the lake for insects. When you return to the visitor centre, you will warm up around the campfire with some campfire snacks, before discovering lots of different moths in the wildlife garden.

Forest Bathing is a set of mindfulness practices and fun activities designed to calm the nervous system, awaken the senses, and bring us into meaningful relationship with the web of life. It has been scientifically proven to have health benefits such as reduced blood pressure, reduction in stress hormones, improved sleep and reduced levels of anxiety, depression and anger.
Half Day Foraging & Tasting Experience
Sunday 27th April
A half day foraging experience (up to 4 hours) looking not only at what plants you can forage at this time of year but how you can put some of them to use right away. The walk will look at common wild plants with edible or medicinal uses, historical uses and poisonous lookalikes aimed at beginners and helping you to get started in the world of foraging. You will also be collecting material for fire on the walk ready to make use of our gathered materials. You will return to basecamp to build a fire with the tinder you have collected and use the fire to make something useful from what you have gathered.

Wildlife Watch After School Club @ Parkridge
Friday 11th April
A monthly (during the school year) Wildlife Watch After School Club at The Parkridge Centre – spend an hour heading outdoors into the natural world of our Parkridge reserve to explore, learn new skills, play games and maybe even make some new friends! This session is aimed at ages 4 to 11 years.
Wild Holiday Bunch: Outdoor Holiday Club

An outdoor holiday club for ages 6+. Join ecobirmingham for days filled with fun nature crafts, active games and explorations, as well as healthy, vegetarian lunches cooked together on the campfire!
Easter Minibeast Adventure

A minibeast safari – you will explore ponds and minibeasts, try your hand at pond dipping, hunt for minibeasts, learn to be a frog, play games and much more. This session is entirely outdoors and is suitable for children aged 3 -12 years old.
