Sustainability is a key focus in the business, ensuring that their services don’t have a negative impact on the planet or people.

What do you need to consider to ensure your business is sustainable?

“Digital carbon footprints are just as important as physical carbon footprints, and with a rise in the digital world, it’s more important than ever for us to do this sustainably. To tackle our carbon footprint, we are members of Ecologi (a company that plants trees and funds the world’s best carbon offsetting solutions), and to date have planted 2,755 trees and prevented over 203 tonnes of CO2e from being emitted, whilst also helping to fund projects in Vietnam, South Africa and the Amazon Rainforest!

We are also one of the few UK companies to be certified by The Green Web Foundation and offer Green Hosting – meaning our website, and our clients’ websites, run on renewable energy. We also put pressure on our suppliers to go Green, and our office building has recently been acquired by Pure Offices who have a Net Zero commitment.

We are a family-owned business, and our team is important to us – we are Accredited Living Wage Employers meaning we have chosen to pay our employees a wage that they and their families can live on – giving them a fair and decent pay. We also take every opportunity to contribute to the local community, through donations to local causes or volunteering our time and expertise. Finally, we are in the process of becoming a B Corporation – a certification that is given to companies that meet high standards of social and environmental performance, accountability, and transparency!”

What do you love about running your business?

“Our favourite thing about running Ballyhoo is working with smaller businesses and being a part of their growth. Having a part to play in them succeeding and evolving feels great as we know we are working with people that truly value this and the hard work that goes behind it.”

What do you love about Birmingham?

“We love that Birmingham is hugely diverse and has a large amount of opportunities for everyone. It’s a creative city and there’s always lots going on – conferences, events and more, which is a great way to meet like-minded people. We feel that Birmingham is vibrant and energetic, which is great for inspiration.”
