Get that good JuJu – JuJu Candles

Introducing JuJu Candles! Gail has been designing and making creative & fun vegan and cruelty-free soy candles and melts for 3 years now, mostly focusing on spiritual themes such as moon phases, and evil eye protection candles. She also makes recycled dinner candles using the wax from candles that didn’t turn out correctly.

She also forages botanicals like the rosemary to make smoke wands (which are an alternative to sage sticks). Some of her cards are seeded so they can be planted to grow wildflowers and her cards and tags are made using recycled materials. She avoids using unnecessary packaging materials, and opts for recycled materials, dissolving packing peanuts and eco-friendly bubble wrap. She is also looking to experiment with wooden wicks next year as these are more sustainable than cotton wick

Why is sustainability important to you?

“Sustainability is important to me because we directly impact our environment with the choices we make. This is our world and our children will inherit it, so every small thing I can do makes a difference and actually it’s a big part of self-love, being conscious of how we treat our earth.”

What is your favourite thing about running your business?

“My favourite thing about running my business is the creative side; it’s an escape for me and so much fun. I put a lot of thought into my creations, and love how candles can instantly give a relaxing ambience.”

What do you love about Birmingham?

“I love the diversity of Birmingham – it’s such a vibrant city with so many colourful characters. There’s so much greenery in Birmingham too, so you can escape from city life in the many parks and gardens; it’s the best of both worlds.”
