Holloway Hall Community Garden
Every Monday
The Community Gardening group at Ley Hill meet every week to learn how to grow food, techniques for looking after fruit trees & bushes, and other skills such as woodwork. They also grow a mix of flowers and have grand plans to put up lots of bird boxes around the site! All of the food grown can be taken by the group to use at home.
West Heath Community Centre Garden

Pop along to Milebrrok Hall and spend a couple of hours chatting and growing fresh vegetables and fruit. Listen to the birdsong as you tend to the raised beds and brush up on our horticultual skills. Each month, you will use the seasonal vegetables to make budget friendly soups in the hall.
Kitwell Wildlife Conservation Project

An afternoon filled with outdoor fun and conservation efforts. Help TCV Birmingham protect and preserve the local wildlife and meadows in the area.
Shenley Little Kitchen Garden

Highbury Orchard Community CIC Volunteer Sessions

Join RSPB volunteers on an easy monthly walk around the reserve, whether you are new to birdwatching or just want to discover more about wildlife at the reserve, the team will give you tips on getting started, point out the different birds, how to identify them and how the seasons bring different changes to the valley.

A screening of the People’s Emergency Briefing – an eye-opening 50-minute film bringing together nine leading UK scientists and experts with the latest evidence and why it matters for things like: extreme weather, food security, health & cost of living. The film is based on the National Emergency Briefing in Westminster with appearances from Chris Packham, Deborah Meaden, and a range of voices from across the UK.

Bat Walk at Centre of the Earth
Tuesday 25th August
As dusk falls, come and discover the extraordinary world of bats which call Winson Green home! Our staff will be on hand to explain more about these amazing animals and show you how to use a bat detector (provided) to listen to the bat’s echolocation calls and identify the species present. After a short talk about UK bats and the species we hope to encounter on the night, we’ll set off on a walk to hear and hopefully see the bats themselves as they flit and flutter across the darkening sky!

Big Wild Pyjama Party 2026 at RSPB Sandwell Valley

Don your favourite PJs, grab a teddy bear and a blanket, pop on your wellies for a family-friendly evening full of nature and wildlife fun in the great outdoors! There will be lots of activities including bug walks and moth trapping. Walk the nature trails by torchlight and discover the wildlife that uses the reserve at night.
