Every Monday
The Community Gardening group at Ley Hill meet every week to learn how to grow food, techniques for looking after fruit trees & bushes, and other skills such as woodwork. They also grow a mix of flowers and have grand plans to put up lots of bird boxes around the site! All of the food grown can be taken by the group to use at home.
West Heath Community Centre Garden

Pop along to Milebrrok Hall and spend a couple of hours chatting and growing fresh vegetables and fruit. Listen to the birdsong as you tend to the raised beds and brush up on our horticultual skills. Each month, you will use the seasonal vegetables to make budget friendly soups in the hall.

Bird Watching for Beginners @RSPB Sandwell Valley
Tuesday 1st & Saturday 5th September
Join RSPB volunteers on an easy monthly walk around the reserve, whether you are new to birdwatching or just want to discover more about wildlife at the reserve, the team will give you tips on getting started, point out the different birds, how to identify them and how the seasons bring different changes to the valley.
Natural Burial: Sustaining Earth and Honouring Life – Guided Walk

You’ll be led around the burial ground, stopping at various points to discuss the significance and deep roots of human rituals to their evolving role today. In addition, you’ll gain insight into how planning a funeral in advance can shape not only personal legacies but also foster both social and ecological well-being. As dusk falls, come and discover the extraordinary world of bats which call Moseley Bog & Joy’s Wood home! Birmingham & Black Country Wildlife Trust staff will be on hand to explain more about these amazing animals and show you how to use a bat detector (provided) to listen to the bat’s echolocation calls and identify the species present.
National Emergency Briefing

What’s happening with climate and nature, and what does it mean for everyday life in the UK? Join the MAC for a screening of the People’s Emergency Briefing – an eye-opening film bringing together nine leading UK scientists and experts with the latest evidence and why it matters for things like extreme weather, food security, health and cost of living.
The film is based on the National Emergency Briefing in Westminster (featured by ITV, Channel 4 and The Times) with appearances from Chris Packham, Deborah Meaden and a range of voices from across the UK. After the film there will be a short open discussion about what it means for our community and what we can do locally.

Stories 4 Nature create moments for children (aged 1-5) and their grown-ups to connect with the natural world, inspiring continuity in exploring green spaces, reliving the stories together and, in the future, valuing these spaces where positive memories were built. The one-hour long sessions are led by Juliet, storyteller and forest school practitioner, and include plenty of messy nature crafts exploring sensorial materials around an interactive story for little ones to be part of.
